History: The Cross family is one of the longest-standing and most reputable Pureblood legacies in the Wizarding World. Able to trace their lineage back hundreds of years, the Crosses have an enormous amount of pride in their heritage but remain, for the most part, more subdued and discreet than the the other Pureblood families of Europe. Their relative obscurity and prudence have allowed the members of the Cross family, all gifted with natural curiosity and smarts, to pursue the academic and intellectual endeavors they prefer quietly and happily.

Unlike the Malfoys or the Blacks, the Crosses have never shied away from contact with the Muggle world. On the contrary, they find it extremely exciting and many members of the Cross clan have departed from the Wizarding World in favor of associating with Muggles. Noted "non-magical" inventors, scientists, philosophers, and members of Parliament over the centuries have in fact been Wizards of the Cross family. The integration of the non-magical world and the magical world has systematically been an aim of the majority of the Cross family and this desire can be linked to the family's beginning as guardians of Christian artifacts and organizers of early Christianity. Various rumors have flown about linking the Cross family name to the legacy of Jesus Christ and his disciples, but they have gone unsubstantiated. The early Wizards of the Cross family can be credited, however, with bringing spiritual enlightenment and Gnostic philosophy to much of the western Muggle world through Christian cults, one later called the Rosicrucian Order after its Cross-born founder.

Since the foundation of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry a thousand-or-so years ago, a Cross has been either a teacher, a student, or a member of the administrative board. The family takes immense pride in their status as a great Ravenclaw legacy, and claims Rosamund Mountcastle -- the first female professor at Hogwarts -- as one of their own.

A BRIEF PERSONAL HISTORY
Lysander is the son of Theodora Cross, a criminal lawyer who was later appointed to the Wizengamot. After she won fame defending Lucius Malfoy at his first trial, Theodora married Anatoly Kasparov, a mutual friend of hers and Mr. Malfoy's. Anatoly, a pureblood himself of Russian and Turkish extraction, is the President and CEO of Floo Network Eastern Europe, also known as Fluruski. Lysander and his older sister Olga were raised in St. Petersburg, and Olga attended Durmstrang while Theodora insisted that Lysander attend Hogwarts.

The Cross family is one of noted academics and policy-makers, and Lysander shows promise in upholding the standards of his legacy. He excels in most of his classes, specifically Charms and Defense Against The Dark Arts, but he is most passionate about Quidditch (to his family's quiet dismay) and is the Ravenclaw keeper and captain. He has a magnetic and charming young man and can be something of a wild child when he indulges himself. Lysander's mercurial personality -- which hops from that of a diligent and passionate academic to a petulant socialite -- puts him in a position that may have lost him the opportunity to be Head Boy.

Lysander can act rather snobbish and entitled, but not too oppressively. He is more competitive than the average Ravenclaw and sometimes that trait expresses itself in a manner that befits his unique and privileged social station.
The Crosses are known as a progressive, not stereotypical Pureblooded family like the Malfoys or the Blacks, but Theodora Cross was always something of a black sheep. She has a very intense relationship and closeness with her son Lysander that may have imparted dangerous influence. Though he is generally kind and rightfully popular with the students, teachers, and the staff of Hogwarts, Lysander has many family secrets that he guards viciously and defensively. The true personality of Lysander Kasparov-Cross has yet to be revealed.
